Pescatore Octopus

This squishy octopus friend comes from an #NES puzzle game titled Pescatore that Hudson developed, but never released. I’ve been obsessed with this sprite for years. This painting is done on an 8″x8″ wooden panel board with 1cm pixels in heavy body acrylics.

I recently had a friend visit my workspace, and he asked me one of the most common questions that I get about my pixel paintings. Do I use tape for my lines? The answer is generally “no.” I will occasionally use to tape to keep a border clean, or for a background element, but never on the character sprite itself. All the line and corner work is done free-hand with a 1/4″ chisel tip brush. That’s why these things take me so long. 😴
