My Wooden Pixel Sprites are a lovingly crafted fusion of woodworking and classic art techniques with a modern digital aesthetic. The characters are built block-by-block out of 1/2″ wooden cubes. The completed shape is sanded smooth and primed. Each character is then hand painted using high-quality, heavy body, artist grade acrylic paints. Finally, the piece is covered with several coats of varnish to protect it from light & damage, and to keep its colors looking vibrant.
My Sprite Board Paintings are similar in principle, but each character is carefully plotted out on a wooden panel board instead of being built out of blocks. The piece is then meticulously painted and finished using the same processes and materials as above.
I am retiring my pixel painting line as of Summer 2018, so that I can focus my time on further developing my skills in drawing and creating original pixel art to a professional level. Although I am no longer making new pieces, this gallery will remain live. I’m too proud of these guys not to share them!
